The Moment, Volume VII: “Wonderful Life”

The most interesting act on the “Sound Of 2010″ polls, Manchester’s Hurts do ’80’s retrograde music as well as anyone, but their focussed songwriting is what makes their debut such a tantalising proposition for 2010.

Theo Hutchcraft (vocals) and Adam Anderson (synths and guitar) caught the eye of music mogul Biff Stannard, who quickly signed them up to his label. Everything is mysterious and being kept under wraps for now, but their debut is expected to arrive later in 2010.

We have an innate obsession with the past and HURTS capitalise on that. “Wonderful Life” is a perfect slice of pop music, fully realised in the way that their image, videos and general brand has been built up from nowhere. They may only just have arrived, but Hurts know exactly what they are doing.
