The original was a grower, chucking aside the heart-felt vocals of “I Am Not A Robot” and “Obsessions” and heading straight for glamour. “Hollywood” is, however, a surprisingly clever pop song, and just a taste of what miss Marina Diamandis has to offer with her debut album, The Family Jewels.
This remix- courtesy of Neon Gold signing Monarchy- manages to go even more kitsch, enlisting the mother of all europop synths to give the song that extra sickly sweet boost. The remix clearly uses a new cut of the song, incorporating different lyrics to the single: “trying to stimulate a mind/that is slowly starting to decay/I itch my skin and jump and say…”
